The Role

We're looking for an experienced Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team. You'll work on critical financial systems handling payments, blockchain transactions, and user authentication — directly impacting thousands of users across Africa and Latin America.

This is a high-impact role where you'll own significant parts of our backend architecture, make key technical decisions, and help shape our engineering culture.

Translation: you'll build cool stuff that actually matters, ship fast, and won't get lost in endless meetings. 🎯

Required Qualifications

Technical Experience 💻

• 5+ years of backend development with TypeScript / Node.js — You write clean, maintainable TypeScript and understand advanced patterns (generics don’t scare you).
• Production database experience — Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, schema design, migrations, and query optimization (you know when to index and when not to).
• API design and development — Experience building RESTful APIs that scale.
• Job queue systems — Understanding of async processing, background jobs, and distributed systems.
• Financial systems experience — Understanding of transactions, idempotency, reconciliation, and financial data handling (yes, money is serious business).

Domain Knowledge 🧠

• Finance fundamentals — Payments, currencies, fees, interest calculations, and financial compliance.

• Crypto / blockchain awareness — Familiarity with Ethereum, wallets, smart contracts, or other blockchain technologies.

  Note: Experience from traditional fintech/web2 companies is fine also. We can teach you the crypto parts.
